Printing on postcard sized card?

i bought some blank postcard sized card that has that special, glossy covering on to transfer pictures onto, only problem is i dont have a clue how to get images onto them via my computer and printer.. just because they are not A4 sized can they go into my printer? if so how does it print images onto the cards properlly? HELP?!
