Can I sue for Emotional DIstress? (wedding canceled)?

Our wedding Venue just called us today 1/16/11 to inform us that renovations of the building won't be completed until 10/01/11. Our wedding has been booked for months with plans in the works including deposits paid for a wedding 09/10/11. I can not believe they somehow know it's going to be ready 10/01 and not 3 weeks earlier for our planned wedding. We were basically told "sorry, we can offer you 100% refund and have a nice day." We were not offered anything else and when asked about the dates starting in 10/01 they are booked for a few months leaving us to find someplace else. We've paid and mailed "save the date cards" as well as purchased the invitations. Our DJ is booked with deposit paid and we've even sketched how we want everything arranged. The wedding venue still has our deposit and we never signed anything but it's certainly understood that we gave a deposit months ago for this date and booking. Before I just allow them to return our deposit what should I do? We were not offered anything else for our touble, expenses etc. thanks, Bel Air Maryland
