Canon EOS Rebel XTi 10.1mp?

I took some pictures with the Canon but the pictures are not as sharp and crisp as my Casio EXZ750, especially close-ups. The Casio only has 7.2mp. Is it the setting on the Canon or something else? I've been using the all automatic setting. Any gurus out there who can help?
