How much do companies pay to advertise with banners in my website?

I am brainstorming original ideas to develop a website which hopefully could become popular. when it does get a good amount of hits a day I will start looking for companies that will pay me to advertise with banners in my website. Does anybody know how much do they pay to have me advertise them? please answer with proof or if you have your own website and have done this. Thanks!
